Abstract

A Trial Excavation in the garden at Stretham Rectory in 1989 revealed the remains of two substantial wall foundations, a series of pits and a possible mortar floor. These appear to form part of a building which probably dates to the medieval period. A band of post-medieval building debris was found above these features. Floor and roof tiles were found from the post-medieval period, notably the 18th and 19th centuries. Medieval floor tiles with a green and yellow glaze were found throughout the excavation.
